Musset didn't write the way he did because he drank absinthe, instead he drank for the same reason for which he wrote just like that: namely out of despair.

Absinthe reviews

Another one of the La Valotes. The three different ones are all "signature" absinthe from the three makers. You can read more about that on their webpage (http://www.absinthe-lavalote.ch/).

The Martin had a somewhat off smell that I couldn't quite nail down to what it was at first. At first it seemed entirely misplaced and I figured that this one would be quite bad. This eventually went away, thank God. The aroma was a bit different from the others, not as one dimensional but promising and quite rich and floral. Then there was this weird addition to it. Not bad in any way, just a weird touch which in some way adds a level to it that makes it interesting.

Adding water didn't do much difference to the aroma but the clear absinthe did louche wonderfully and turned to a nice white.
