Vintage absinthe. The sound of it alone, is a bit intriguing. Having had the opportunity to
sample some vintage absinthes I must say, that it truly is. There are not that many bottles
left today, of what we would call "vintage" absinthe, and the ones that are found are rarely
for sale. Every now and then a few bottles are found, and actually make it out on the open market.
I have put together short reviews of the vintage brands I have tasted. And as I hope to get to taste more vintage absinthe
as time passes by, I will of course be sure to share my thoughts of those as well. However, it is quite hard
to "review" or "criticize" a vintage absinthe, since they are pretty much what the modern brands should
be compared to.There is also a section with reviews of vintage absinthe "substitutes", such as Pastis. They provide an answer to the question of what happened after the ban, and how did the drinks at that time taste and look compared to the modern variations today. A very special thanks and lots of credit must of course go to the ever hospitable Peter Verte and also to a very good friend, Simon, for giving me the opportunity to sample some of these vintage goodies. Now, please go on to the reviews. Vintage Absinthes | Vintage Substitutes | ||||
